Babcock State Park

Babcock State Park offers its guests 4,127 acres of serene, yet rugged beauty, a fast flowing trout stream in a boulder-strewn canyon and mountainous vistas to be viewed from several scenic overlooks. All of this variety is located adjacent to the New River Gorge National 'River and the heart of the whitewater rafting industry of West Virginia. Paddleboats, rowboats, and canoes are available for rent at the marina at our 19-acre Boley Lake where good fishing abounds. Fishing is also available in the park's cool rushing stream.
Beech Fork State Park

Fishing is one of the most common activities that visitors and overnight guests may enjoy. The lake is known for largemouth and hybrid striped bass, catfish, walleye, saugeye (a cross of walleye and sauger), and bluegill. A Fishing license is required and is available in the Camper's Corner store located in the Administration Building. The store is open for business March 15 through October 31.
Black Water State Park

Blackwater Falls State Park is named for the falls of the Blackwater River whose amber-colored waters plunge five stories then twist and tumble through an eight-mile long gorge. The "black" water is a result of tannic acid from fallen hemlock and red spruce needles. The falls are one of the most photographed sites in West Virginia.For specific information on boat rentals, please contact our boat dock operator, beginning Memorial Day Weekend. The Blackwater River is stocked weekly with trout from early spring through early summer.
Bluestone State Park

In the midst of this wilderness park, just five miles south of Hinton, are nestled modern cabins, a campground and fine recreational facilites. The extra plus is that Bluestone is adjacent to Bluestone Lake, the state's third largest body of water. Just north of the park is Bluestone Dam, Historic Hinton, and the New River Gorge National River, the center of some of the state's best whitewater rafting and canoeing. Bluestone National Wild and Scenic River flows into Bluestone Lake within the Park boundaries. Hunting and fishing opportunites abound at 17,632 acre Bluestone Wildlife Mangement Area adjacent to the park and nearby Camp Creek State Forest.
Cabwaylingo State Forest

Cabwaylingo State Forest is located on 8,123 heavily forested acres in the heart of Southern West Virginia in Wayne County. Built in the 1930's, the forest gets its unique name from the four surrounding counties from which it serves: CABell, WAYne, LINcoln, MinGO. Sportsmen will enjoy the fishing and hunting opportunities available at the forest. For fishing enthusiasts, the West Fork of Twelvepole Creek winds through the forest and is stocked with trout on a monthly basis during the months of February,March, April, and May.
Cacapon Resort State Park

Cacapon Resort Park received its name from being located in the shadows of the wide expanse of Cacapon Mountain. This mountain is the highest peak in the eastern panhandle of West Virginia reaching an elevation of 2,300 feet. The Cacapon River parallels the mountain in a meandering route beneath the mountains western slope. Swimming and boating are available at Cacapon Resort State Park Lake. The lake is stocked in the spring for trout fishing, but other fish that can be caught are bass, catfish and blue gill.
Camp Creek State Park

Camp Creek is one of the best stocked trout streams in the state and can offer hours of fishing enjoyment.
Canaan Valley Resort State Park

Cedar Creek State Park

Nestled in the heart of West Virginia, Cedar Creek State Park's 2,483 lush acres are just 25 miles west of Interstate 79. This pastoral setting of rolling hills and wide valleys provides an ideal backdrop for a wide variety of recreational opportunities from cycling to pleasant family strolls. The three lakes at Cedar Creek are seasonally stocked fishing. Trout are stocked in late winter and early spring, muskie in summer and bass and catfish may be caught year-round. Paddleboats can be rented for a leisurely trek around the largest of the ponds.
Coopers Rock State Forest

Bands of rockcliffs line the Cheat River Gorge and provide numerous overlooks. The centerpiece among these is the main overlook, which furnishes a panorama of the gorge and distant horizons. A maze of enormous boulders and cliffs fascinates hikers, and the trails are especially lovely in June when the rhododendron and mountain laurel are in bloom. Several trails wind through forest valleys and over ridges, and a number of creeks beckon the explorer. Glade Run is damned to form a 6-acre pond that is regularly stocked with trout. Properly licensed individuals are welcome to hunt or fish in-season, in specified areas.
Greenbrier State Forest

Located in the southeastern corner of the state near the border of Virginia, Greenbrier State Forest provides over 5,100 acres of heavily forested, mountainous terrain for outdoor recreation. Magnificent views of the surrounding countryside are afforded by the impressive and imposing 3,280 high Kate's Mountain. The nearby Greenbrier River affords some of the finest smallmouth bass fishing opportunities in the eastern U. S. Stream and lake fishing is available nearby. Some of the more popular species include trout, largemouth and smallmouth bass, crappie, bluegill, catfish and walleye.
Hawks Nest State Park

Nestled in the heart of whitewater rafting country, Hawks Nest State Park encompasses 276 acres bordering a rugged section of the New River Gorge National River. Paddleboating, jetboating and white water rafting available.
Holly River State Park

In the midst of this woodland paradise, park guests will find a myriad of recreational opportunities. Playing tennis on modern courts, surrounding yourself with nature on one of the numerous hiking trails, or just soaking up the sun by the swimming pool--all of these spell Holly River State Park. A trout rearing pond is located near the park headquarters; guests may learn about the many types of trout that are stocked on the park.
Kanawha State Forest

Located just seven miles south of Charleston, West Virginia, this forest's close proximity to the heavily populated Kanawha Valley has made it a recreational haven. Properly licensed individuals are welcome to hunt or fish in-season, in specified areas. Other neaby fishing areas include: Kanawha River, Ridenour Park, Coonskin Park and Wine CellarPark.
Kumbrabow State Forest

Kumbrabow State Forest is located along the western edge of the allegheny Highlands atop Rich Mountain. The 9,474 acres of forest range from 3,000 to 3,930 feet above sea level, making Kumbrabow the state's highest forest. Mill Creek is a native brook trout stream whose swift cold waters provide many hours of good fishing with proper licensing.
Little Beaver State Park

Created by a cut rock dam constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps more than 50 years ago, an 18-acre lake at this park provides the opportunity for swimming, boating and fishing. Other recreational facilities include a picnicking area, multi-purpose building with a game room, boat rentals and hiking trails.
Moncove Lake State Park

Moncove Lake State Park is located in Monroe County's Sweet Spring Valley, a beautiful area that any lover of the outdoors can appreciate. Moncove Lake, which encompasses 144 acres, provides fishing opportunities for largemouth bass, bluegill, trout, and catfish. Rowboats and paddle boats can be rented for a nominal fee. Visitors are welcome to bring their own boats, providing that they meet all state regulations and use less than a 5 hp gasoline motor. A boat ramp is available.
North Bend State Park

Named for the horseshoe curve of the North Fork of the Hughes River, North Bend State Park offers a multitude of recreational facilities in a beautiful pastoral setting.
Panther State Forest

Pinnacle Rock State Park

Projecting from the rugged mountains of southeastern West Virginia, Pinnacle Rock is a striking geological formation located along U.S. Rt. 52 near Bluefield. This park provides a relaxing picnic area in an unusual scenic setting, hiking trails and a small fishing lake seasonally stocked with trout.
Pipestem Resort State Park

Seneca State Forest

Oldest of West Virginia's state forests, Seneca borders the beautiful Greenbrier River in Pocahontas County. The forest offers rustic guest cabins; a four(4) acre lake for trout, bass and bluegill fishing; a small campground and 11,684 acres of lush woodlands for hiking, hunting or communing with nature. The lake and forest are named after the Indian tribe which once roamed the area. Seneca Lake is stocked with trout in the spring and fall and offers largemouth bass and bluegill fishing as well. An accessible fishing pier and restroom are provided. The nearby Greenbrier River offers the angler many species of fish including smallmouth and rock bass. Normal licensing is required. Within an hour's drive you can access many of the state's best trout streams. Canoes, rowboats, and a paddleboat are provided on Seneca Lake. Cabin guests have free access to these boats at no charge, while others wishing to use them must pay a fee. Lifejackets are provided.
Stonewall Jackson Lake State Park

The main focus of the recreational opportunities in the park center around Stonewall Jackson Lake, a 2,650 acre lake constructed in the mid-1980's as a US Army Corps of Engineers Project. In addition to the 4 luxury houseboats available for rent, Stonewall Jackson Lake State Park rents pontoon boats and fishing boats. The fishing boats are equipped with 25hp outboard motors, most with swivel seats. The pontoon boats are equipped with 50hp outboards with center consol steering. Considered to be West Virginia’s premier fishing impoundment, Stonewall Jackson Lake offers excellent fishing for a number of species including largemouth bass, catfish, crappie, bluegill, perch and musky.
Tomlinson Run State Park

The park's 1,398 acres extend along the stream from which it gets its name, both of which are named for a family of early settlers, to within a mile of the stream's confluence with the Ohio River. Over 33 acres of water in the form of various ponds and lakes offer excellent fishing for bass, catfish, bluegill and trout. Also a part of the water-oriented activities at the park are boat docks where rental row and paddleboats are offered for your enjoyment.
Twin Falls Resort State Park

Set in the rugged mountains of Southern West Virginia, Twin Falls Resort State Park is the ideal site for nature seekers. Visitors here may find overnight accommodations ranging from a 20-room lodge located on the mountain top to secluded cottages and deluxe and standard campsites.
Tygart Lake State Park

Paramount to the park, nestled in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains in scenic North Central West Virginia, is the 1,740-acre lake. Boats can be rented from the marina. They offer fishing boats, pontoon boats, and slip rentals.
Valley Falls State Park

Once the site of a lumber and grist mill community, the scenic treasure of Valley Falls is now protected by the state park system. The dark, rushing waters of the Tygart Valley River create the falls of 12 and 18 feet which are the centerpiece of the park. Only a short drive from Fairmont and Grafton, this park provides day use visitors with picnicking, fishing, a playground and hiking trails.
Watoga State Park

The park consists of 10,100 acres filled with a multitude of recreational activities including hiking, swimming, horseback riding, fishing and boating. There is something for everyone to enjoy at Watoga State Park. Paddle or row boat rentals are available at Watoga's 11 acre lake. Relax on a paddle boat or do some fishing.
